Things to Do in Chiang Mai - Royal Flora Exhibition
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members When living in Thailand there are always events and gatherings to go to because Thai culture is very sociable. Many events will have the same food, products or music every time. But not the Royal Flora Horticultural Exhibition. The last time I attended this event was back in 2006. This exhibition is a tribute to a hard working King. For decades since his ascension to the throne, no terrain has been insurmountable or remote for His Majesty who visited villages in all corners of the Kingdom to learn first-hand the problems and challenges the Thai people were facing.
Over the years the King initiated more than 2,000 development and agricultural projects aimed at alleviating the hardships of the rural poor throughout the Kingdom. His Majesty coined the term "sufficiency economy" based on his philosophy of self-reliance through the rational use of environmental and natural resources and the use of simple and effective techniques which the Thai people can adopt in their daily lives.
For his role in the advancement of Thai agriculture, the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 was conceived as a tribute to His Majesty. Here is a look at the 2011 event.

Anyway, check out this little apartment and compare it to something back home for that amount. Opps, forgot, you can't! Interested in this building?? Cost of Buying a Used Motorcycle at Thai Prices -- Chiang Mai
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members There are many things to see and do around Thailand. I f you decide to stay a while or retire in Thailand then you should purchase your own transportation. Transportation is inexpensive. You can even own a great little motorcycle that will get you around town for $500. Normally I would let a Thai negotiate the price for me so I wouldn't get a higher price which could happen some times. But if you don't have a Thai that could accompany you, how can you get the same price as a Thai person? If you live in Chiang Mai, here's how!

JC's Day Trip Cruising the 100 km Samoeng Loop, Thailand
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members One of the most fun outdoor activities in northern Thailand is cruising around the country roads that wind through the hills around Chiang Mai. And people who like day trips from Chiang Mai will be pleased to know there is one cool option. You can take your own bike or rent a bike and do it yourself on this beautiful 90km all day experience that takes you through excellent mountain views, waterfalls, beautiful gardens, adventure activities, elephant camps, orchid and butterfly farms and places to eat.
Getting away from Chiang Mai's hectic, polluted and slightly dangerous driving conditions is great. Traffic slows to a trickle as the scenery changes from businesses into the lush foothills and eventually deep into the mountainous North Country. This is a gorgeous journey, especially for motorcyclists.
Conditions on the countryside roads are surprisingly good. There are thousands of kilometers of paved and good dirt roads crisscrossing the mountains between Chiang Mai and the Burmese border. You could sleep in guesthouses or camp and have weeks of exploration, giving you an excellent chance to interact with the Thai locals. But for people who do not have the time to do that, the Samoeng Loop is a great option.
Follow along with me for the day and enjoy our journey!

So if you are living in the North, where can you buy fresh whole beans roasted the way you like and ground exactly for your own machine? Check it out.

The Average US Citizen Lost $21000 in Savings Last Summer!
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members The average US household lost $21,261 of net worth this summer, the largest decline in family wealth in nearly three years. Stock portfolios of all Americans dropped 5.2 percent in the third quarter, while home prices slipped 0.6 percent in the period, the report said. Economists don't expect home values to rise much for a long as five years.
Consumers have failed to recover from the clobbering of home values due to the recession, which plunged to $16.1 trillion from a peak of $21 trillion in 2007 just ahead of the recession crisis, the report said.

Getting a Colonoscopy in Thailand -- An Expensive Pain in the Butt?
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members We all have heard that after you reach 50 you should start to get a colonoscopy to reduce the chances of geeting colon cancer.
The American Cancer Society believes that preventing colorectal cancer (and not just finding it early) should be a major reason for getting tested. Finding and removing polyps keeps some people from getting colorectal cancer. Tests that have the best chance of finding both polyps and cancer are preferred if these tests are available to you and you are willing to have them.
Beginning at age 50, both men and women at average risk for developing colorectal cancer should use one of the screening tests below:
Tests that find polyps and cancer
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy every 5 years
• Colonoscopy every 10 years
• Double-contrast barium enema every 5 years
• CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy) every 5 years
Benign polyps can be easily removed during colonoscopy and are not life-threatening. If benign polyps are not removed from the large intestine, they can become malignant (cancerous) over time. Most of the cancers of the large intestine are believed to have developed from polyps.
So if you are living in Thailand what are you going to experience? Is getting a colonoscopy an expensive pain in the butt or what? Watch and see.

Thailand Costs of Medical and Dental Procedures

And if you are wondering whether a life in Southeast Asia is a good retirement plan, coming over for a surgery or butt lift will save so much money that the trip becomes a free bonus. Eating Thai Street Food -- Selection, Price and Safety
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members The most inexpensive and practical food to eat while living in Thailand would be the street food. The food sold off carts parked at certain times on the streets or sidewalks. The most common Thai dishes can be found being sold this way. Costs average around 30--35 Baht per dish that comes served over rice. This food is the real fast food as it is cooked and served faster than the traditional Western fast food and much tastier and nutritious as well. Check out what food is available in just one area of town in Chiang Mai.

How Much Does a Great Seafood Meal Cost in Thailand?
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members One thing that mattered to me the most when I decided to move and live in another country was the cuisine. I had to like the food because I eat meals every day. And the enjoyment of food is high on my list of enjoyable things. But not only did the food need to be tasty but it needed to be affordable as well. So going out and buying a seafood meal for two needs to be something that is affordable to do as often as I desire. Can that be done in Thailand on a small retirement budget? Let's see just what we can get?

Sit Back and Enjoy Loy Krathong Chiang Mai 2011
Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members Two of the biggest festivals in Thailand are Songkran and Loy Krathong. Bangkok and Chiang Mai are two of the places in Thailand that these celebrations really are taken seriously. Seriously fun, that is!
As the full moon of the twelfth lunar month (usually in mid-November) lights up the night sky, throughout the Thai kingdom, hundreds of thousands of ornately-decorated krathong or traditional banana leaf floats are set adrift in rivers and waterways in a spell-binding ritual called "Loy Krathong" - the 'festival of lights". This is one of the Kingdom's oldest and best-preserved traditions.
The Loy Krathong tradition we know of today has evolved from the royal rituals of the early Rattanakosin period in which several types of lanterns were set afloat in the Chao Phraya River and its waterways. Sit back and enjoy Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai.
